Why We Built Clearwork for Trades

We've seen this over and over.
And honestly — we’d had enough of watching good trades lose money simply because their admin was a mess.
So we built Clearwork.

The real problem we wanted to fix
We’ve worked with trades for years — building software, helping them organise jobs, listening to how their days actually go.
And the story is always the same:
- Work comes in everywhere: WhatsApp, calls, texts, Facebook.
- Important details get buried under 200 unrelated messages.
- Photos get lost.
- Invoices get written late.
- Jobs get forgotten altogether.
- Parts and materials don’t get tracked properly.
- Money gets left on the table.
Most trades aren’t short on work.
They’re short on organisation.
Not because they’re unorganised people —
but because every job comes flying in at full speed, while the admin piles up behind them.
And every bit of software out there was either:
- too complicated,
- too expensive, or
- built for big construction firms, not small crews.
So we decided to build something better.
Who we are
We’re just two developers who’ve spent years building real tools for real businesses:
- I (Brandon) built the entire web dashboard and the backend API — the bit you use on your laptop or desktop to manage jobs, customers, invoices, and all the behind-the-scenes logic.
- My Co-founder built the mobile app in Flutter — the bit you have in your pocket, quick and simple, so you can add jobs, log work, and upload photos on site.
We didn’t have a massive budget.
We didn’t have investors.
We didn’t build this for a boardroom.
We built Clearwork for actual trades who work hard and hate admin.
